So gut wie jedes Printmagazin, das sich mit Computerspielen befasst, hat Battlefield 2142 getestet und auch die großen Spieleportale sahen sich den Nachfolger von BF2 näher an und veröffentlichten Reviews. Wir haben die Ergebnisse dieser für euch in einer übersichtlichen Liste zusammengefasst. In der Regel erhielt Battlefield 2142 gute bis sehr gute Wertungen, allerdings wurde es von vielen Testern schlechter als der Vorgänger BF2 bewertet.
Fazit: "Es gibt an Battlefield 2142 nicht viel zu bemängeln, lediglich die magere Anzahl an Karten sowie einige vergleichsweise mickrige Bugs - der Rest ist ein Actionfest!"
4Players zeigt sich sehr positiv gegenüber Battlefield 2142: "Ein Actionfest"!
Fazit: "Overall Battlefield 2142, even with the look and feel of a well polished mod, is a pretty worthy addition to the franchise, even with the price tag. There's something missing that's hard to really figure out. Some of the Battlefield magic just isn't quite there."
Auch IGN ist von Battlefield 2142 überzeugt und bewertet es mit dementsprechend gut.
Fazit: "Battlefield 2142 continues the tradition of combining ground forces, land and air vehicles, and huge, wide-open maps in an addictive, wholly entertaining package that sets the bar high for competitors to follow."
Skeptisch an den Test herangegangen erzielte Battlefield dennoch einen guten Eindruck was die Endnote auch rechtfertigt.
Fazit: "Battlefield 2142 was clearly made in a short amount of time compared to Battlefield 2 and we certainly can understand that gamers will feel some hesitation in paying $50 for a game that on the surface doesn’t look or feel that much different than the previous title."
Firingsquad bewertet sehr schlecht im Vergleich zu den anderen Magazinen und Websites und ist nicht von BF2142 überzeugt.
Fazit: "Battlefield 2142 may be a glimpse of the future of games. I'm just not sure that I like it."
Der Verfasser des Testsberichts von Eurogamer.net ist sich nicht sicher ob er BF2142 mögen soll oder nicht - so richtig überzeugt ist er vom Spiel jedenfalls nicht.
Fazit: "It's certainly not going to supersede the increasingly popular Battlefield 2, as most of its merits are merely held over from its predecessor, but nevertheless it's a brilliant evolution of one of the greatest online shooters ever made. And it's got giant walking tanks."
Fazit: "The game is rock solid and balanced so that experienced gamers and new players can get the hang of the game and soon be hooked on the action and teamwork it brings while working towards that next unlock."
Auch von GamingExcellence erhält Battlefield 2142 eine gute Wertung
Fazit: "All in all then I have to say I enjoyed playing Battlefield 2142 despite it not being too dissimilar from Battlefield 2. Nothing too ambitious has been attempted, and the few changes that have been made have improved the game."
Alles in allem ist BF2142 für bit-tech.net BF2142 sehr unterhaltsam.
Fazit: "Battlefield 2142's new Titan mode is an exciting new addition to the Battlefield series, though for the most part 2142 offers up minor evolutionary improvements over its illustrious predecessor."
Fazit: "Es wirkt nicht wie ein eigenständiges Spiel. EA hätte 2142 eher als neues Add-On für Battlefield 2 ankündigen und veröffentlichten sollen, denn die Bezeichnung Add-On wird dem Spiel eher gerecht als die Bezeichnung neues Spiel."
Fazit: "Man kann böse sein und Battlefield 2142 als Vollpreis-Mod für Battlefield 2 bezeichnen: Gleiche Engine, gleiche Spielmechanik, anderes Setting. Für mich rechtfertigt allerdings allein der geniale Titan-Modus den Kauf."
Fazit: "Battlefield 2142 ist ein für die Battlefield-Serie evolutionärer Schrtitt nach vorne, besonders anhand des Titan-Modi, der wirklich frischen Schwung ins Spiel bringt."
